Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Ep. 1 – [First Impression] Magic? Yes. Hogwarts? Nope!

As I finish watching this I get the feeling that I must tell my followers how TRULY AMAZING is this show about asap *yeah but you know I was a bit lazy and internet has become so slow here*. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei itself is purely “magical”, they use some shitage freaking science reference that I must admit too complex for my creative-but-not so-smart brain. The thing is they call that high science fusion whatsoever as magic.

PLOT - The setting is quite interesting; future; year 2095 with WW3 as the base of magic became deadly weapons stuffs but it’s already over. Our main character (Shiba Tatsuya) CAN NOT use magic, he can only use theoretical magic (Honestly I’m not so sure about these magic-y things) makes him as an extra (Weeds) *I know, sounds weird right?* in First High School (there are actually 9 magic schools in Japan). Unlike his brother, Tatsuya’s lil’ sister (Shiba Miyuki) is seen as perfect embodiment of the best student in school who can do anything with great amount of magic power saving her a safe position in First course known as Blooms. Ironic, eh?

Bullying is also a problem here, most Blooms think Weeds are just extra useless trashes. This leads into a conflict in the end. Miyuki’s (Blooms) friends have developed some anti Weeds personas, block the act of brother-sister-pure-love-act by not letting them go home together *like come on*. Here, we see how Tatsuya manages to avoid some trouble by making up a very “programmed” story. What makes me so curious about is the true identities of these siblings. For a very first episode this anime is giving me some feels that something top secrets about them idk.

Characters and Animation – To be honest I love how they make Tatsuya as super intelligent, analitycal yet emotionless human being unless towards his lil sister *Okay siscon and brocon may be too much the case although I don’t mind incest just yeah* at least he’s not a jerk. He reacts based on what normal people do or expect. Well, I still don’t understand why he thinks so low about himself though, I mean HE DOES HAVE SOME TOP SECRETS to hide something like he’s on some secret agent shit maybe and he kicks asses in taijutsu. Omg he’s so cool I started to think he is attractive. As for Miyuki what a nice sister she is. Anyway there is this pretty school president I really like since her first appearance (Saegusa Mayumi) as a girl I’m in awe, if I am a boy this girl is my type, I freaking ship her with Tatsuya.

by seeing those gifs I think there is no need to tell the animation’s quality. Madhouse is madly good in animation, especially when Tatsuya fights his teacher. Anyway I love the magic he & Miyuki use, something like rollerblades and sprinting magic *seriously that’s cool*. Not to mention the pallets colors they choose really fit my eyes it just sooooo naiseeee. From some comments I read on the forums they use the very exact designs as in the Light Novels which is good. How they animated the use of magic is nice too, better than Fairy Tail’s magic release.

I love how they don’t spoil so much information in first episode (to think about it, madhouse had already released 3 mini episodes in chibi ver to answer questions such as magic, magic high school and how it works *yet I still don’t understand completely*) I can feel something great is going to happen in this show. It’s giving me so Sword Art Online feeling. So guys, how d’you feel?
