Sword Art Online Ep. 1 – Straight To the Business (First Impression)

Wow, they waste no time to go straight to the problem. The first minutes we get to see this Death Gun guy who can kill players (well, this one serves it for being an annoying asshole) by just shooting their image on screen (the players got real heart attack in real world). Like seriously, that’s some deadly ability; he doesn’t shot the player directly I mean it’s just by screen. Kirito (let’s just call him Kirito, Kirigaya is too long and unfamiliar) sure will have a hard time with these pro players around.

It’s been a year since the ALO accident ended, and it’s lovely to see Kirito and Asuna having a lovey dovey date. Anyway, Kirito looks a bit chubby here. Honestly we’re getting this kind of reminisce time (oh my God, they still in touch with Yui!), until the scene where Kirito is meeting Kikuoka Seijirou (Vitual Division Agent) concerning the accidents in Gun Gale Online (The only game in Japan with Pro Players can change game coins with money in real world). Like I said, they are straight to the business.

We know what happened next, Seijirou offer Kirito to enter Gun Gale Online, which Kirito refuses at first. Well, you can say I’m starting to have this phobia of infodumps relating to science-tech since I watched Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. But Thank God it’s SAO we’re talking about so I don’t need to worry about my brain ability in understanding this Death Gun case conversation. Well, I don’t know Kirito likes something sweet, I thought he likes spicy thing.

While they are doing pretty good for its first episode, the appearance of this blue-haired girl, Shinon is quite dope. Who would have thought this Shinon girl wears glasses and resembles that type of preppy girl if it wasn’t for the ending.

As for the opening and ending, I have to admit it’s not as cool as its first season but it does spoil us. Now it makes sense why they are still using Sword Art Online in the title while they are playing with freaking guns, because… it’s Kirito. Kirito’s girl avatar is probably part of his trick to get this Death Gun guy, and seriously I can’t tell if Shinon will have a fight or will just become a friendly ally with Kirito, the ending fight seems cool by the way.
